History of Taiwan Contemporary Art Research Project
Taking a “contemporary” perspective, this project will reconstruct art history in Taiwan spanning the period from 1960 to 1980, as Western modernist art arrived on our shores. “Contemporary” does not demark a period of art history, but refers to a methodology of a new temporal consciousness that reproblematizes and contextualizes Taiwan’s contemporary art history.
By collecting, organizing and researching first-hand information, this project will establish a series of foundational texts through artist interviews, international workshops, international seminars, and other academic activities. We hope to increase the breadth and depth of research of Taiwan’s art history in the process of mapping the development of contemporary art.
