ABOUT
Since 1999, Spring Foundation has been devoted to encouraging artistic creativity, research and education; and to promoting the development of modern and contemporary arts and culture in Taiwan, with the aim of consolidating local resources, furthering international exchanges, and expanding the breadth of our cultural panorama.

The Foundation previously operated as Spring Gallery, which first opened its doors in 1978. In that era of scant artistic resources, Spring Gallery provided a stage for international exchange on which artists could present their creative works, and were encouraged to experiment and explore artistic thought and creativity. In transforming from Spring Gallery to the Spring Foundation, the organization bore witness to pre- and post-Martial Law developments in the socioeconomic and cultural environment of Taiwan, serving as a milestone of historical reference as it embarked on a renewed mission for the next era.

Spring Foundation has been organizing the annual Spring Project lecture series since 2013. The Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art, along with arts professionals at home and abroad, are invited to work together and discuss contemporary society and culture through lectures and publications.

Three years in the making, the “History of Taiwan Contemporary Art Research Project” has steadily constructed an archive of Taiwan’s contemporary art history through artist interviews and a collection of literature.

Working with the National Palace Museum and the Taipei American School to promote arts education, the “The Spring Foundation Junior Docent Program” provides training to students and empowers them to carry forth the spirit of Chinese culture.
